Karnataka tops States in innovation index

Karnataka has been ranked the most innovative among major States by the NITI Aayog. Delhi tops the category among Union Territories (UTs). These rankings were a part of NITI Aayog’s India Innovation Index Report 2020. The index is divided into three categories – major States, UTs and hill and North-East States. Four southern States – Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Kerala – occupy the top positions on the index, apart from Maharashtra. The framework of the index includes parameters for measuring innovation, such as percentage of GDP spent on research and development and number of highly-skilled professionals, among others.
