Industry Minister Nandi directs UP officials to set district-wise investment targets

Uttar Pradesh will set annual investment targets for every district and strengthen training and performance assessments for Udyami Mitra and District Industries Centre (DIC) officials to speed up project execution and improve investor support.
Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ disclosed these details while chairing a high-level review meeting of Invest UP, Udyami Mitras and DICs at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow on Tuesday.
The meeting, attended by State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Industrial Development Jaswant Singh Saini, reviewed investment performance, project implementation and investor facilitation.
The focus was on ensuring that projects moved efficiently from MoUs to ground-breaking ceremonies (GBCs) and production while extending industrial development across all 75 districts.
“This review meeting should not remain a routine exercise. It must become a platform to assess Uttar Pradesh’s changing industrial landscape, investor confidence and new employment opportunities and identify how we can take this momentum further,” Mr Nandi said.
He added that Uttar Pradesh had moved beyond signing MoUs to converting investment commitments into projects on the ground.
Across four GBCs, more than 16,000 projects worth over Rs 12 lakh crore have been grounded while preparations for the fifth GBC are underway, he said.
Mr Nandi said that the State’s GSDP had risen to Rs 30.25 lakh crore in 2024-25, and a target of Rs 39.8 lakh crore was set for the coming years.
Uttar Pradesh’s contribution to India’s GDP had reached 9.1 per cent, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Saini said that Uttar Pradesh’s improving ease of doing business was reflected in the rise in annual registration of companies from around 500 to more than 4,500.
He stressed that Udyami Mitras must serve as an effective bridge between the government and the investors, resolve issues promptly and focus on investor confidence and satisfaction.
Additional Chief Secretary of Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department Alok Kumar; Industry Secretary and CEO of Invest UP Vijay Kiran Anand; Assistant CEO of Invest UP Prerna Sharma and other top officials were present on the at the review meeting.
