RoDTEP rates to boost exports notified, scheme to cover 8,555 tariff lines

The government has notified the RoDTEP Scheme Guidelines & Rates for boosting exports by creating a level-playing field for exporters.
The government has decided to extend the benefit of Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme to all goods with effect from January 1, 2021, a notification by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has said. The rates for different sectors are 0.5, 2.5 and 4 per cent.
The government has set aside Rs 12,454 crore for refunds under the RoDTEP scheme for the current financial year, according to a top official.
Commerce Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam has said that Rs 19,400 crore will be available for 2021-22 for both the RoDTEP and the Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies (RoSCTL) scheme. The RoSCTL scheme was announced for export of garments and apparel.
The aim of these guidelines is to provide greater competitiveness under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign and boost employment generation.
The scheme provides zero-rating of exports for domestic industries and identifies export sector rates under RoDTEP to cover 8,555 tariff lines, such as marine goods, yarn and dairy products, among others, a statement from the Minister of Commerce and Industry has said.
Under RoDTEP, various Central and State duties, taxes and levies imposed on input products among others are refunded to exporters to boost exports.
