UP’s ground-breaking ceremony gets 1,406 projects of over Rs 80,000 crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the third ground-breaking ceremony of Uttar Pradesh Investors’ Summit held in 2018 and laid the foundation stone for 1,406 projects worth over Rs 80,000 crore.

The projects that attracted investments were in diverse fields, including agriculture, IT and electronics, MSME, manufacturing, renewable energy, pharmaceutical, tourism, defence and aerospace, handloom and textile.

Gautam Adani, Kumar Mangalam Birla and other leading industrialists attended the mega summit organised by the Uttar Pradesh government. Defence minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were among those were present on the occasion. 

Speaking after inaugurating the ceremony, Mr Modi said: “I believe that it is Uttar Pradesh that will give momentum to India’s growth story in the 21st century. In the next 10 years, Uttar Pradesh will be a big driving force for India.” 

Addressing the investors and other luminaries at the event, Mr Adityanath said: “UP increased its traditional enterprise export from Rs 88,000 crore to Rs 1.56 lakh crores with effective action in schemes like One District One Product."

The first Uttar Pradesh ground-breaking ceremony was held on July 29, 2018, and the second one took place on July 28, 2019. During the first ceremony, the foundation stone for 81 projects worth over Rs 61,500 crore was laid. During the second one, foundation stone for 290 projects with investments of over Rs 67,000 crore was laid.
