Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT) conducted a roadshow in Jaipur recently for the 68th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair to be held from September 6 to 10 in Bangkok.
The event was followed with an exclusive fashion show with models displaying an array of Thailand’s jewellery to the visitors. The timing of the fair in September aligns seamlessly with the festive season. Supported by the Thai government, international exhibitors, buyers and importers can enjoy special privileges, including complimentary accommodation, transportation, VIP lounge access and discounts at renowned department stores in Thailand.
India has been a key market for Thailand’s gem and jewellery exports, especially the silver jewellery. India has also been the top visiting country for the Bangkok gems fair for many years, both in terms of footfalls and trade volumes. The fair is a very important trade platform, especially for Indian exhibitors.
The Bangkok gems fair, which will be held at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in the Thai capital, will display more than 1,100 exhibitors in 2,400 booths. More than 15,000 visitors and 3,000 million baht of revenue are expected from this edition, according to a media release by GIT.
Deputy Director (Business) GIT Sitthichai Parinyanusorn, Director of Thai Trade Center in New Delhi Saithong Soiphet, India Bullion and Jewellers’ Association National Vice-President Chetan Kumar Mehta, Jaipur Jewellers’ Association President Dwarka Prasad Khandelwal and reprsentaitves from leading trade organisations were present at the roadshow.
