Coal India (CIL) has scaled up its capital expenditure (capex) budget for the ongoing financial year by an additional Rs 3,000 crore, revising it to Rs 13,000 crore. The increase in capex comes at a time when the government has directed Central public sector undertakings to step up their capex to stimulate economic activity. The rise represents 30 per cent jump over CIL’s original capex target of Rs 10,000 crore for 2020-21, the country’s largest coal miner has said in a statement. CIL has posted a 166 per cent rise in capex during the first nine months of FY21 at Rs 7,801 crore.
