The global capability centre (GCC) ecosystem in India is projected to have reached a market size of $98.4 billion by the end of 2025-26.
This expansion reflects a significant structural shift, as these centres move from being traditional delivery engines to becoming the central nerve centres for global enterprises.
According to the Nasscom-Zinnov report, GCC Value Orbit: From Delivery Engine To Enterprise Nerve Centre," the country now hosts 2,117 GCCs operating across 3,728 units. This network supports approximately 23.60 lakh professionals, marking 32 per cent growth in the number of centres since FY21.
The report notes that roughly 506 of the Forbes Global 2,000 companies currently maintain operations in India. A primary driver of this growth is the deep integration of artificial intelligence (AI) across products and infrastructure.
Nearly half of the GCCs established since 2021 have focused on AI from their inception. Currently, more than 1,200 centres in India embed AI and machine learning capabilities, supported by a specialised talent base of 2,50,000 professionals and 250 dedicated centres of excellence, the report adds.
“India’s GCC ecosystem is undergoing a fundamental reset. The shift from scale to value is now well underway, with AI acting as the catalyst. GCCs are increasingly taking ownership of global products, platforms and business outcomes, positioning India as a strategic nerve centre for enterprises worldwide,” notes NASSCOM President Rajesh Nambiar.
